Lisa B. Corfman's Gallery

In my spiritual travel experience to the land of Israel in the summer 2019, I uncovered an origami analogy: Folding, a creation act, bridges matter and energy.

The folding material of paper is matter, a finite element.  In folding, there is mathematics.  Math is infinite - think about Pi, atoms, and the galaxy.  For example, we understand Pi to go on forever; Pi appears to be infinite like HaShem.  In creative tests, we can experiment.  Another example: a piece of paper can only be folded in half 7 times.  Mathematicians have challenged this half-folding max challenge and won with intense calculations - a truth tested false!  Math is incredible - it challenges and can form an understanding.  I love creating origami for this reason!

So, is art infinite?  Perhaps by organic creation!  Many mediums share this balance.  Thousands of colors can be mixed.  Art in words, illustrations, sculpture and everything else can be microscopic and/or astronomical.  It's our way of thinking.  In making, sometimes we fail but sometimes our efforts DO succeed and change the world.  In holy matrimony, we create little ones, and so much more in the folds of life!

My story started in 1980 and I hold a BFA and an Advanced Certificate in Marketing.  I love my educational work, creating art, and my fish, friends and family as I see life unfold!

Origami Collection

Origami folding is a metaphor for creation. The divine is within us.  Our divine infinite energy (our souls) are within us, and our spiritual energy lives as down-to-earth human matter.  We are finite beings, and like paper we are matter.

In the pieces featured, I am the design creator and folder of a collection of simple and elegant folded origami models.  Again, the artworks are paper, finite material, yet the folding creation is from the principals of mathematics, something infinite.  Origami inspires my spirituality.

These are folds of life!
