Laura Fredericks' Gallery

I have been doing art since I was a child, growing up in Western MA.  My BA from Kirkland College (now Hamilton) in 1975 was for children’s book illustration & writing, with a minor in education.  I spent my junior in Denmark working on an adventure playground.  Back in NY for my senior year, I built a playground at an alternative elementary school.

I worked for 25 years in educational publishing, including making illustration myself.  Also, I was a puppeteer for Sandglass Theater in VT.  And I did puppet-building and set creation for Underground Railway Theater.

Switching to hands-on education, I taught 4 years in afterschool programs. Then I got an MA in art education from Lesley.  I taught art to children at the Danforth Museum, various art centers, and art camps.

My art techniques include watercolor, cut paper, drawing, and multimedia collage.  I also make dolls, puppets, jewelry, murals, and masks.  I love papier mache.

I have lived in Maynard for 24 years and I love the community here!
